View from the Sister Cities Pedestrian Bridge in 2012. The Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside, formerly the Clarion Riverside Hotel (and before that, the Sheraton Four Points Riverside Hotel), is a local hotel located on the Genesee (obviously), across the street from the convention center. The hotel connects to the convention center via the skyway. They have a parking garage which is open to the public when it is not busy; otherwise, it is for guests and monthlies only. The Radisson is convenient to headquarters offices of Kodak, Xerox and Bausch and Lomb, as well as downtown attractions like the Blue Cross Arena, Frontier Field and Geva Theatre. The restaurant Legends Sports Bar & Grille is located in the lobby on the Main Street side of the building. The neighborhood is called the Convention District. Also home to the Time Out Massage & Treatment Center. Another Radisson location in the area is in Henrietta near the RIT campus.

Alas, it was torn down in 1965 thanks to misguided "urban renewal" efforts catering to the almighty automobile. A few fragments have been preserved and were exhibited at the University of Rochester Dept. of Rare Books & Special Collections in 2010. To see what could have been, check out the grand Utica train station, which has expertly preserved and is often used for wedding photographs. The next Amtrak Station was built in the 1970s and was actually meant to be a temporary structure. The Louise M. Slaughter Rochester Station (named after politician Louise Slaughter) opened in 2017 and is an Amtrak intermodal transit station. Local and regional bus transportation is provided by the Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA). Taxi firms also serve the station. The station is located on the north side of Rochester at 320 Central Avenue, as were the previous two stations. Adam McFadden Adam McFadden had served as representative of the South District on City Council since 2004, and was the current council vice-president, when he plead guilty on April 1, 2019, to federal charges of wire fraud and filing a false tax return. He admitted to fraudulent billing of Rochester Housing Charities, an arm of the Rochester Housing Authority, for more than $100,000. In April 2022 he began serving an 18 month sentence - reduced in exchange for his testimony against former RHA head George Moses. The Amtrak Station - photo by TomMaszerowski The Louise M. Slaughter Rochester Station (named after politician Louise Slaughter) opened in 2017. See: https://www.dot.ny.gov/rochesterstation/. The 2017 station is on the site of the previous two stations on Central Avenue between Joseph Avenue and North Clinton Avenue. The Anti-War Crisis Center was the Avenue's nexus for antiwar activities. It closed in 2009, and was replaced to a great extent by the Flying Squirrel Community Space. Photos of closing It should be noted that while members of the former anti-war storefront are involved with the Flying Squirrel that the two projects were and are separate entities. The Flying Squirrel collective met at the storefront—and we were certainly thankful for the space—but one did not morph into the other. The anti-war storefront was a project of Peace Action and Educaton—a task force of Metro Justice. The Flying Squirrel is an independent entity that hosts many events and organizations but is in no way is affiliated with PA&E or MJ.

Auburn Bearing & Manufacturing (formerly Auburn Ball Bearing) is a manufacturer of ball and roller thrust bearings, precision components, and custom machined parts. Originally established in Auburn, NY, in 1989, Auburn Bearing & Manufacturing is considered one of the oldest continuously operating thrust ball bearing manufacturers in the United States today. Auburn Bearing & Manufacturing has built a strong reputation in the bearing manufacturing industry over the years and is well-known for its unique raceway design, called the Auburn "V" Groove Raceway. This V-groove raceway is designed to contain the ball bearings with four points of contact, and as a result, these bearings are able to operate with much less rolling friction. Auburn Bearing's thrust bearings that feature this V-groove raceway design have the advantage of carrying much larger radial loads than that of the typical round grooved thrust bearings. In 2006, Auburn Ball Bearing was purchased by Fairport Products, a designer and manufacturer of power transmission parts. Under its new owner, the two companies were merged and become one under a new name, Auburn Bearing & Manufacturing. Today, Auburn Bearing & Manufacturing operates out of Macedon, located in Upstate New York, and the company specializes in custom, obsolete, and hard-to-find thrust bearings in low- to mid-production volumes. Furthermore, the company is increasing its capabilities in manufacturing custom radial bearings.

There is a piece of the Berlin wall in the food court area of the Bausch and Lomb Headquarters Careful scrutiny of its display reveals traces of an amusing story: The slab is authentic. The graffiti is not. A misunderstanding led to its surface being sandblasted clean prior to its acquisiton. This did not correspond to the wishes of Bausch & Lomb, who had hoped to bring to Rochester an authentic piece of the wall for display. It arrived blank. In response to their disappointment, Bausch & Lomb commissioned a local artist to recreate the graffiti on this section of the wall from archival photos. Study the photos accompanying its display and smile. While the artist came close, it is clear the reproduction is not exact.

A jar of Boss Sauce. Boss Sauce is a sweet and spicy sauce that is made in Rochester by American Specialty Manufacturing, Inc. It is somewhat similar to Country Sweet sauce, which is also locally produced. The sauce was created by Eddie Harris, the owner of American Specialty Manufacturing, Inc., and was based on a family recipe. It was originally served at Eddie's Chicken Coop, which opened in 1981 and was located on Portland Avenue. Several area restaurants serve wings with boss sauce, sometimes referred to as "Rochester Style". It can be purchased online, as well as from local retailers such as Wegmans.

The Century Club of Rochester is a mansion on East Avenue which is the oldest women's club in the city of Rochester. Founded in 1910, the members of the club's mission has been to support cultural and charitable events, seek diversity, and grow personal and professional relationships. The mansion does have banquet space for wedding receptions. In November 2015, the mansion was purchased by the owners of the Strathallan Hotel to manage events for the club and to expand the hotel's event planning activities.
