Happy Earth Tea is a local organic tea brand. Their tea room and retail location in the South Wedge was originally called Leaf Tea Bar. They were founded in 2011 by Niraj Lama, a native of India, and his wife Mary Boland. On February 1. 2018 a second retail location without a tea tasting bar was opened in Eastview Mall, but closed within a year. They formerly had a studio in the Hungerford Building, then moved to 650 South Avenue. They opened their current location in July 2021.

Authentic wagon from original Hart's Groceries. Selection of local products. Hart's Local Grocers was an independent full-service grocery store in the East End. Their stock emphasized local meat, dairy, produce, and baked goods at affordable prices alongside national brands. They also offered prepared foods based on an updated 1940s menu dedicated to local cuisine. The cafe featured a different local coffee each month. Online shopping and delivery were available, as well as pick-up at the store. Arbor Loft, the second floor event space leased by Agathi & Co. The store was named after Hart's Groceries, a longtime Rochester institution. Hart's opened August, 15 2014. Owner Glenn Kellogg is an urban planner originally from Washington, D.C. On March 11 2019, owners announced after a profitable year, they would be closing on March 24, 2019; on March 20 they moved the closing date up to Friday, March 22, due to low inventory. The location was previously Craig Autometrics. Highland Park Diner is a famous diner on the corner of Clinton and Goodman in Swillburg, across Clinton from The Cinema. The American Diner Cookbook and other books feature the Highland Park Diner. The diner is also immortalized in a collectible sculpture by the Danbury Mint. This diner was manufactured by the Orleans Diner company of Albion, NY in the late 1940's. It would have been pre-built in their factory and moved to the site via rail car and truck, which is why diners of this type are always long and narrow. This diner may be the only surviving diner from this manufacturer (they only made 2 or 3 units total). It has always been at this site, although the original name was Dauphin's Superior Diner. The diner closed in 1974, then re-opened in 1976 as an OTB parlor. At this time, most of the diner interior was dismantled and removed. After the OTB closed in 1986, the building was purchased and restored by Bob Malley, who owned it for many years. Several years ago, Bob retired and sold the diner to a new owner. Hot Shots is a volleyball facility in the Neighborhood of the Arts. It is located in a converted industrial warehouse which now holds several large indoor courts, complete with sand as the playing surface. They also have a bar and restaurant serving Tex-Mex cuisine and standard bar fare such as burgers, etc. Hot Shots was originally Raging Burrito, the first Rochester-area manifestation of the California taqueria-style fad.

House of Poon was a Chinese restaurant in Brighton with a funny name and dragons in front. It had dishes from all regions of China, which the menu explained, but mainly stayed within the boundaries of traditional American-Chinese food. It seems to have been built during the golden days when Chinese food was exotic, probably during the 50's or 60's. On December 24, 2008, the restaurant was heavily damaged by fire. Jay Leno once featured the House of Poon on The Tonight Show after someone submitted only a picture of the front of the restaurant with its name clearly visible. He featured it again during the first episode of The Jay Leno Show on September 14, 2009.

I Don't Know was a Chinese take-out place in the Changing of the Scenes neighborhood. Owner Jessie Dong says the name was inspired by her children's frequent response to what they want for eat. Shortly after she opened in May 2015, the quirky moniker garnered international attention and brought brisk business to the two-person operation. I Don't Know had two tables inside. Most menu items were under $10. Dong previously owned the Golden Port in Greece. Despite the media attention and subsequent burst of customers, the location ultimately did not attract enough business and closed in June 2016. International Importers, Long Pond Rd, Greece International Importers was a delicatessen on Long Pond Road. It was replaced by Oriens Cafe in 2009. History: Former description: Don't know much about the history but the owners (presuming because they are always there) are nice and are working all the time. It seems that everyone that’s there when I stop by knows the owners and each other. While I may not know anyone people are easy to chat with when waiting in line at the deli counter (which btw, isn't a long wait). They have a good selection of deli food and other stuff. All at prices that are about 30-40% less than Wegmans. Former Menu: Deli case with a good selection of meats and cheeses Butcher case, homemade sausage, rib eye steaks and more. Fresh bread and rolls from Di Paolo and Petrillo's Fresh made salads like macaroni and potato. Subs, both hot and cold. Canoli! Dried pasta, caned sauce, olives, fresh nuts. Pop and drinks, snacks and chips.

Cozy bar near the East End of Rochester. A hotspot during East End Night Life Festivals, where Salinger's is famous for their cheap-to-refill plastic mugs of beer. You can actually get a decent beer here (read not just Labatts, but craft beers too) for a few bucks during their happy hour. Check out the specials on the board. Too crowded for me on a Friday or Saturday night...very little room to move around and almost impossible to get to the bar. —

The King of Rochester Media group was based in Rochester NY, and was devoted to bringing the amazing little city of Rochester closer together. It focused on creating stronger bonds and networking connections through many different organizations and specific individuals. While Technically there was no real "King" the name is in truth a figurative symbolic title to someone who will pull the troops together and unite them in a common goal to see the Amazing city of Rochester Grow. (Though often the "King" title gets Placed on the Person who created the group and is seen all over the city of Rochester). The group been in existence since Jan 2004, and the members have been expanding since then. The site contained forums for those in the city to speak/write to one another, a place for local bands to post about their upincoming shows (as well as forums for each so people can learn more about the bands themselves). A community Calendar that is editable that informs it's members of coming events. It allows you to connect your genres of interests and hobbies to help network and create friendships all around the Rochester (and surrounding Areas). It was approximately 10 people working on this project from Writers, Artists, Programmers, Photographer, Musicians, and just generally cool folks. FREE BumperStickers and Shirts were given out at KoR organized gatherings, parties, and music events. They are given out by "the Kings Jesters" who are a bunch of fun people just helping out for free music, food, drinks. The Staff consisted of: Restaurant/Bar Reviewer: Music Reviewer Local Political NightLife Specialist Photographer Programmer Artist PR Schmoozehound. And many other amazing individuals that take time out of their busy days to help improve the world around them. La Casa Restaurant is a Mexican restaurant in the South Wedge. They serve brunch on Sundays. Outdoor seating available. La Casa opened on February 25, 2013. It was co-founded by the owners of La Placita Mexican and Lyjha Wilton of Wilton Enterprises and Boulder Coffee Company. Controversy In May of 2014, the La Placita people filed a lawsuit against Lyjha Wilton. It alleges that he had approached them as an investor and promised to turn the restaurant over to them, but instead maintained ownership and forced them out after the business became popular and they were detained for immigration violations. 1 Wilton has countered by saying that they refused to uphold their end of the agreement, left the business voluntarily, and refused to enter mediation in an attempt resolve the matter, instead deciding to sue. LDR Char Pit, Lake Ave, Rochester NY LDR Char Pit was a restaurant on Lake Avenue that opened in 1945 and is named after the initials of the founder's three children. A roadfood.com review by Stephen Rushmore, Jr. features pictures of the famed steak sandwich and describes the sandwich as a grilled single slice of beef (as opposed to the steak sandwich available elsewhere consisting of shaved beef cooked on a griddle.) The sandwich is "a seasoned, lean steak sandwich that is so tender that adding condiments would only downgrade the experience." The reviewer gave LDR Char Pit 10/10 for visiting again, 10/10 for food, 9/10 for atmosphere, and said that it is worth driving up to 60 miles to get there. Photos

Lento entrance off the courtyard, 8-2008 Lento interior, 9-2008 Lento is a casual fine dining restaurant in the Neighborhood of the Arts that focuses on farm to table, local, seasonal and sustainable food. The menu changes daily based on what is in season and can be had from area farms. With the vast wealth of farms around Rochester and the Finger Lakes region, Executive Chef and Owner Arthur Rogers has developed relationships with farmers who share his vision. Parking is available after 5pm across the street at the Rochester Works building, additional parking is available in the various Village Gate lots. The restaurant opened June of 2007. They are located in the Village Gate complex.

Little Caesars Pizza is a national chain pizzeria with seven locations in the Rochester area: Chili Avenue in Chili, Lyell Avenue in Greece, Ridge Road in Webster, Cobblestone Court Drive in Victor, Dewey Avenue in Greece, Titus Avenue in Irondequoit, and Monroe Avenue in Rochester. The Little Caesars Dancer Guy on Monroe Avenue The aforementioned individual began his dancing campaign in 2011. The "Little Caesars Dancer Guy," whose real name is Christopher McGuire, was a young man in an orange tee and a fluffy orange wig carrying an arrow-shaped sign advertising the "$5 Hot-N-Ready" special available at the Little Caesar's Monroe location. He was seen most weekdays from 3-9 on the corner of Monroe and Goodman, and occasionally on the corner of Monroe and Alexander, performing a variety of silly dances. During his tenure he became something of a fixture, boasting two Facebook fan pages (now defunct), as well as coverage in the Democrat & Chronicle (article here) and YNN. Alas, he quit his position in early January 2012 due to alleged verbal abuse from his supervisor and is now employed by Texas Blues BBQ. McGuire has also done work for Royal Crown Pawn.
